How PEBC Thinks: 100 Official Sample Questions, Explained

Work through every official sample MCQ by question number. See the domain, the decision being tested, why the key wins, and any important current-practice limit.

PEBC gives candidates 100 official sample questions and an answer key. This walkthrough adds the reasoning layer. Every entry identifies the decision objective, the information that should control the choice, the error behind each distractor, and the current-practice context for the published answer.

Keep PEBC's official PDF open beside this page. The complete stems and option sets stay in the source document. This guide is independent educational commentary and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by PEBC.

How to use this walkthrough

  • Attempt the numbered question in PEBC's PDF before opening its explanation here.
  • Name the competency or decision lens before comparing the answer choices.
  • Find the patient fact, calculation, safety issue, or professional duty that controls the decision.
  • Use the exam-day rule as a bounded heuristic. Current care still depends on the full patient, product, jurisdiction, and local policy.

What the competency changes

The competency does not replace clinical knowledge. It changes the objective of the decision. A Clinical Care item asks what best protects or treats the patient. A Distribution item may use the same drug facts but ask whether the order, quantity, preparation, or process is correct.

PEBC prints explicit competency headings for Questions 1 to 67. Questions 68 to 100 appear in the integrated case section without question-level competencies, so Aura Pharm classifies each by its primary decision domain for easier study.

What comes from PEBC, and what comes from us

  • PEBC provides the question numbers, section and case structure, and published answer key for all 100 questions. It also prints the domain headings used for Questions 1 to 67.
  • Aura Pharm wrote the explanations, decision objectives, option-by-option analysis, exam-day rules, and current-practice context. The domain labels for Questions 68 to 100 are Aura Pharm classifications.

PEBC warns that its sample answers may become inaccurate when guidelines or legislation change. Keep the official PDF open beside this page. The guide identifies each item by number and does not reproduce the complete stems or option sets.

Frequently asked questions

Does this guide reproduce PEBC's sample questions?
It does not reproduce the complete questions. It identifies each item by number, displays PEBC's published answer letter, and adds original commentary. Complete stems, option sets, images, logos, and the answer-key table remain in PEBC's PDF, which is linked throughout the page.
Are all 100 decision lenses official PEBC competencies?
No. PEBC prints domain headings for Questions 1 to 67. Questions 68 to 100 are integrated cases without question-level labels, so Aura Pharm classifies each by its primary decision domain and identifies that classification clearly.
Should I memorize the official answer when current guidance has changed?
Learn what the sample item was testing, then read the current-practice note. The guide keeps PEBC's published key visible but does not turn a dated or incomplete sample into current patient-care advice.
